Violence against women in Estonia
Violence against women is very widely spread in Estonia. The research conducted by the Estonian Open Society Institute this summer shows that the Estonia does not differ significantly from other countries in terms of the level of violence against women. In Finland, 306 women suffer every day from physical or sexual violence in their intimate relationship.15 252 women experience physical violence and 33 women sexual violence every day in Estonia. 2/3 of cases of violence against women is occurring in the home of the woman. Almost every second woman is injured because of violence and every seventh woman is subject to serious, also life-threatening injuries and traumas.
