Doctorial thesis on the prevalence and characteristics of child sexual abuse in Sweden

Adolescent sexuality and sexual abuse: a Swedish perspective (ISBN: 91-628-4764-3) by Karin Edgardh, presented at Karolinska institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, in May 2001.

The thesis presents findings from a national survey of consensual and non-consensual sexual experience among 17-year old students and school drop-outs in Sweden. Concepts from adolescent medicine, e.g. risk-taking behavior, are used. Experience of abuse is specifically addressed. The thesis comprises six articles, one of which presents the history, physical findings and legal outcome from forensic examinations of teenage girls alleging abuse. A recent article deals with peer sexual abuse.
