The pilot countries engaged on the PROMISE project were identified as having the interest and potential to transform their current services for supporting child victims and witnesses of violence into a multi-disciplinary inter-agency cooperation. The pilot countries are learning from existing Barnahus and similar models and are exchanging experience amongst themselves to in order to support national level capacity building, advocacy, and implementation strategies.

A conference 12th October 2016 highlighted the difficulties child witnesses face in getting the right support in the criminal justice system. There were presentations from the Barnahus staff from Oslo, Norway, the Justice Cabinet Secretary, Lord Carloway, Lord President. Participants also heard about the use of intermediaries in England.
