"Position paper regarding online images of sexual abuse and other Internet-related sexual exploitation of Children"
By Save the Children Europe Group.

"This position paper gives an overview of the problem of child sexual abuse and exploitation in relation to the Internet and other online technologies, from a children’s rights perspective. It does not attempt to cover all aspects of the problem. It is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Save the Children's comprehensive programme experience in working on this complex issue. Save the Children recommends the following three main strategies in the fight against Internet-related sexual abuse of children:

  • Facilitate international multi agency co-operation to combat the problem of child sexual exploitation on the Internet at international, national and local levels.
  • Improve international law and national child protection systems with respect to the complex multi jurisdictional nature of Internet crime and abuse against children.
  • Challenge societal denial, minimisation and myths about the sexual abuse and exploitation of children" (Quoted from the report page 4-5).
