q       TCC has 4 years experience on working with projects with different international foundations (EU PHARE, UNDP, Soross foundation, etc.) working with support groups for woman in crises, street children, volunteers as well as different education and training program.

q       Talsi crises center for women and children (TCC) has managed successfully rehabilitation program for abused children already 3 years in cooperation with LR Ministry of welfare Social help found.

q       TCC is the member of “The association of street children” in Latvia.

q       Center has 3 years experience on cooperation with municipality workers responsible for rights of children, cooperation with national level institutions

q       Center has good cooperation with local and national NGO’s support system Centers.

q       TCC has strong, educated and motivated team to work in this field – social worker, 2 psychologists, medical assistant and educators or care persons and social pedagogy.

q       Center is one of the best and first NGO’s who started to give social services on the bases of enthusiasm and dedication.

History in brief

TALSI CRISES CENTER FOR WOMAN AND CHILDREN is nonprofit organization founded in 1998 by Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Talsi.

1998-1999

Support in crises situations, support groups and education was the main activities of Crises center.

Project writing experience on the field of social education, development of support groups and social- psychological care in Crises situation were common in 1998-1999. Around 14 projects were supported at that time from different founds –

Soros foundation-Latvia, UNDP, Queen Julian foundation, etc.

The financial support of Talsi city council, Talsi district, private donations and project support were sources of incomes of center budget – 40 000 USD/ per year, in 1998-1999.

2000 –2002

 Talsi Crises center von the rights “To give social rehabilitation services to children suffered from violence” in the competition between different governmental and non-govemental organizations organized by LR Welfare ministry Social help found.

Year 2002 is the third year when Talsi crises center works successfully on that field. Our team consists of 13 people different specialists and administrative staff. We give 30 days rehabilitation services for 11 children and 2 supportive persons at the same time in Talsi crises center.

Besides that program we work with “street children” and their families, as well as on the field of education and training (education program for local municipality child’s courts representatives, etc) and support group management, as well as on developing work of volunteers.

We have developed opportunities in our center for children to spend free time in adequate way - weekly activities program for children different ages on concrete themes, computer skills, physical activities in play room and play garden, to go to excursions, etc.
