NGO Estonian Society of Mental Health

The NGO Estonian Society of Mental Health unites different specialists: psychologists, doctors, pedagogues, social workers and other specialists and students, who are interested that our nation would be mentally and physically well. The society was founded in the year 1997.

 

PROGRAMMES

 

Since the foundation we have implemented the following programmes:

 

The rehabilitation programme to the children and families, who have lost their near to kin.

 

The therapeutic camps for children and youngsters are the main part of this programme. In the camps the children have an opportunity to participate besides the regular camp life in the support groups. This helps the children to normalise their reactions and to cope better in the new life situation. To the close persons of the children we organise individual consultations and support groups. We support each family 2-5 years.

 

The programme “Big Brothers, Big Sisters”

The programme unites voluntary support persons and children at the ages 7-16. In the Tallinn programme participate in the year 2003 80 Estonian- and Russian-speaking children and youngsters.

 

Support groups for the children from risk families.

This project operates regularly the fourth year running. The most support groups have been organised to the children of Kopli region.

 

Child’s Worry telephone and Internet chats

From October 2002 started operation Child’s Worry telephone 646 0770 and Internet chat at the address www.lapsemure.ee. The programme works in Estonian and Russian.

 

TRAININGS

 

The training “Psychological assistance in a situation of a crisis and catastrophe”

 

The topics of the training:

  1. Organisation of after-accident crisis work in children’s establishments and schools
  2. Impact of a crisis and accident to the person’s psychics
  3. Crisis reactions and communication with people in a crisis situation
  4. Crisis assistance methods
  5. Crisis assistance to children, mourning work
  6. “Burning out syndrome” and coping with stress

 

The training is mainly meant to the specialists, who deal with children

 

Communication psychology training to pedagogues

 

CONSULTATIONS

·          Supervision for social workers and pedagogues.

·          Psychological family therapy and family consulting.

·          Individual consultations.
