Most of the children in orphanages have a previous experience in abuse, forming a risk group both as victims and potential abusers and thus need special attention and protection. Emotional abuse as a frequent phenomenon is yet not acknowledged by orphanage managers. This Master`s thesis (Siret Linde, 2002) treats abuse of children in welfare institutions on the basis of scientific literature, questionnaires, essays of children in orphanages and everyday experience.
